Not sure but it seems legit.

Today, we have a very interesting rumor coming from YouTuber, TheAustrianToast, regarding DICE’s plans for future Battlefield 3 DLC.

In a dual commentary with DCRUColin, TheAustrianToast revealed, ”I have a source telling me that there will be an all American DLC.” He added that these maps would be based on locations like “New York City, Miami, New Jearsey, and I think it was San Francisco.”

Before Battlefield fans get a little too excited, since his sources were never revealed, we have to consider this a fairly wild but rather likely rumor. Rather likely, because if we take a look at the recent Back to Karkand maps, they are already based on various cities in the Middle East. This also seems to be the overall theme with Battlefield 3 – environments within city limits, as opposed to Battlefield: Bad Comany 2′s more open environments. It would make sense for DICE to stick with what the Frostbite 2 engine seems to do really well.

TheAustrianToast later stated in this commentary, ”I mean, the all American DLC pack is a great idea and should actually come out middle, or in the beginning of summer.

Lastly, a while back, DICE mentioned that they weren’t into making “map packs,” but rather “expansions.” This would most likely mean that we would also see a new set of weapons, vehicles, and assignments much like the recent Back to Karkand expansion. On top of Battlefield 2143 rumors, DICE also considered the idea of a snow-themed expansion, something many Battlefield 3 fans have been craving since Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Make sure to follow MP1st on Twitter and Facebook for more Battlefield 3 news!

Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Does this rumor seem likely to you? Would you love to drive a tank down the streets of New York City in an all American themed DLC?

if they're all going to be city based maps i hope this isnt true, if there is a mix of city maps and large open maps ill like it no matter what places those are.

Although BF3 really needs snow maps and tropical maps

I hope they do LA rather than San Fran Sicko. It'd feel more close to home for me.

Sidenote, I'd love to FINALLY see a map where WATER is important, and not just a spawn-delay or excuse for using boats. Although, then DICE would have to program and design actually USEFUL boats, not just little dingys with guns duct-taped to them.

And what is with peoples fetishes with snow maps, night maps, or a combination of the two? Sure, I like snow, it's cool (see wat i did thar?), but i'd muh rather have more rainy maps. I love the sound and lighting DICE established with rain on maps like Grand Bazaar and the campaign mission. Oh, that sound when trucks drive by on a wet road.... ear orgasm.

It's this kind of thinking that showed me the one single factor that changed Battlefield for the worse, was the sudden shift to locking-on weapons.

I guess it be dope if they did rainy night one on golden gate bridge both teams start on at end of both sides of the bridge but downtown la is just more epic. Ever since snow maps in BC2. Those maps were nicely made. I agreed with hobo on rainy night map with lightning. It would be sick

I must agree with you. If BF3 was PC exclusive then the maps would be much bigger.. (No hating to console players though!)

well i hope its not like vanilla bf maps. I mean even though its a city map you can still make big spaces like add parks/or multi level like if you can use the highway of tehran highway, or docks

Many people (on this forum as well) would agree with me, you need to see someone about this denial of yours.

My point: The question asked was why all the maps in the past 3 BF games were mostly small and infantry based.

1. The CONSOLE COD crowd that EA wants DICE to take a chunk of prefer INF maps.

2. Consoles are to weak to process the massive maps that PC BF fans want.

3. Console gamers don't know any better, they never played huge BF maps like El Alamien, so DICE will still get their money even if they fail in the map size aspect.

hey i played that map before at at friends, its huge, any way what i want is a map that is in the desert, a few buildings that are abanded (is that how you spell it?) , and big dunes. lastly i dont know if these are on pc but tracks, like behind a tank there are tracks i find that is a big let down for the back to k pack, like in the desert city maps there are no tracks, and lastly another all indoors map say a mall with diffrent levels

Sorry but I must corret you on your 3rd point here.

I'm a Console Player. Why? My PC is outdated that's why. And I play BF3 on my xbox360. I used to play every Battlefield game except the Bad Company Series on a PC. So I know how the huge makes like El Alamien is like. So don't say I DON'T know.

I'm a console gamer and I know -.-

This makes you an exception, not the example. the original question (made by myself answered in perfect form by frank) was rhetorical as the answer (already layed out) was so painfully obvious that you would have to be outright blind, or a console only player who has no experience in the bigger, badder, and better maps the the BF priors. you may be a console player with BF experience but most of them are not. this game was deigned to appease the COD and BFBC base and to deny otherwise would be very short sighted. between the small maps, the congested layout and the simplistic vehicle gameplay it can only be concluded that consoles are the reason for the problems. its not that the players have demanded these diminished features, but that dice can get away with giving them to us. (well a bit of both to be honest)

I wouldnt stop there. we need maps like midway and gazala! as good as BF2 was it had to naval warfare and only 2 types on planes (same as BF3). I still dont get why dice doesn't just allow modding and skim the profits from their download. I would pay $60 for a FH3, NAW3 or PR3 in a heartbeat.
