For the Javelin in Battlefield 3 to be effective against attack helicopters, teammates must utilize SOFLAM, CITV, or laser pointers to actually destroy the choppers. A soldier with the Javelin (engineer class) can't tag a target and take a shot. At least one other teammate must designate a target before a shot can be taken. A well focused squad that understands the word "teamwork" can potentially keep the enemy's choppers out of the sky, allowing their ground teammates to suppress the enemy. And for that matter, a losing team can make a comeback and win, with plenty of engineers and teammates designating targets in Battlefield 3 matches.
Adding to the debate is the fact that console players tend not to utilize the Javelin or laser designators as much as their PC counterparts do in Battlefield 3. So the reasoning behind this nerf request (and most nerfs) really boils down to: "My team sucks. DICE, please nerf the enemy's weapons, but leave my weapons alone." The Javelin may be very effective, but standing in it's way: flares, a good enemy pilot, and incompetent teammates.

A good heli pilot/gunner can only be shot down by AA (even then not guarantee and not always available), Tank shot (even then you get disabled and not one hit kill which is RIDICULOUS), good sniper shot (very hard on a good pilot), or the javelin. And even then the javelin isn't easy (requires two people) or a guarantee because they can still use ECM jammer to stop the lock, or fly down between buildings or low out of LOS to break the soflam/jav lock. And then alls they need to do is fly back up real quick, have the gunner find the BRIGHT SOFLAM, kill it, and they're good to go. A good heli pilot/gunner is unstoppable once they start camping the other team's heli. Nerfing the javelin is just stupid.
I'm pretty sure there's just someone on the dev team that either...
A) Loves the heli but sucks and doesn't know how to pilot so he complains about anything that can shoot him down
B. Loves the heli and is a really good pilot, and wants to ensure nothing can shoot him down so he just buffs the ever loving shit out of it
I mean FFS they're a flying tank in the sky the way it is right now. Don't even give me this crap about balance if you do this DICE, cause you clearly aren't playing your own game if you do this.

Input
The whiney little lvl 10 bastard that works in the mailroom at Dice serves Alan Kertz his coffee with a little bit of his 'input' every morning.
The first night he played he got killed by someone using a G36c three times in a row and gave his input about the G3. Alan noted it down as the G3A3.
The second night our little whiney bastard decided to go and fly a chopper, after crashing it 8 times of which 4 times his chopper was filled to the brim with teammates he finally managed to keep it airborn untill a beeping sound started. He got stingered, twice in a row. He rage quit and the following morning when he brought Alan his coffee he literally spilt his beans swearing not to play untill it was patched. Alan, caffeine junky, dully noted it down and put it in patch 1.
So patch 1 arrives and whiney little bastard starts up battlefield again. But somehow whiney little bastard gets killed over and over and over, no matter where he hides. So he goes to play sniper but still gets killed even though he was sure he was hidden well. Days go by and whiney little bastard finally get's 100 kills on his weapon and unlocks this scope named IRNV. Whiney little bastard likes to try out new toys so he can give feedback to Alan in the morning, so he puts it on his gun immediatly and zooms in. The cries of anger and rage having discovered this cheat were heard 2 blocks away.
The next morning he gives Alan his coffee, says nothing and waits. Alan takes a sip. *UGH!* Don't like salt in your coffee do you Alan? I dont like cheats in my game, remove IRNV! Alan having also to deal with the department of glorified promises and painting skies aka marketing decides to keep it in but render it useless.
Whiney little bastard is a patient man, he goes and plays a bit of Skyrim whilst waiting for Alan to drop patch 2.
Couple of weeks later patch 2 arrives and whiney little bastard starts up Battlefield 3 again. Everything is fine and dandy for a couple of maps untill he reaches Operation Metro. His much beloved Operation Metro. He just loves running around the tunnels with his AEK killing everyone in the tunnels, loves it! Hah he screams at his HD monitor as an enemy turns around the corner, TARGET AQUIRED!!! When all of a sudden the tunnel starts shaking violently and explosions are all around him. Stunned he fails to react and is watching the killcam where this guy is teabagging him.
Whiney little bastard never cared much for tea in the first place so flushed with anger he runs down the tunnel again, stops but before he can target the tunnel around him explodes again...
Whiney little bastard serves Alan his coffee. Goodmorning Alan. I don't drink that yet, it's missing the sugar lumps. Whiney little bastard then drops the sugar in from a meter high into the coffee. ONE SERVING OF USAS-12 FOR YOU SIR! And walks off.
Puzzled Alan looks over the stats of the USAS-12 untill he notices the frag rounds. Could use a bit more splash damage and have a little bit more consistent accuracy close by he mumbles. He looks down and sees the puddle around his coffee mug and sighs. Ok, ok, I'll remove some splash damage, just a slight tweak though. There now, slightly increased the number of clips needed to kill someone from 1 to 2.

I think the javi is FINE. I fly helis quite a bit and have yet to be shot down by a javi. reason is that im not an asshat going for kill streaks and use ECM while my gunner elects flares instead of optics. we kill vehicles, and kill inf when its available. Im just glad so see so much support for the javi from the forums.

I really hope this does not happen; Nerfing is a slippery slope and it looks like DICE is started to slide their way down...

Your argument is invalid since you only use tanks/vehicles. 1745 kills in T-90A and your best weapon is a G36C with 1400 kills. Stop complaining about the only counter to your gamestyle.

Dude.. I play both in Attack Choppers and Engineer with Javelin and I can say 100% that Javelin/SOFLAM, CITV, Laser Pointer as NOT OP in any way
The only thing thats OP is the RANGE OF THE SOFLAM. That is the problem with Javelin/SOFLAM. If you reduce the range then you reduce the chance of getting hit by Javelin BY BEING A GOOD PILOT AND RUNNING AWAY, lolol.
Again, I play both Tanks/Attack Choppers and Engineer, so I do both destroy vehicles and USE them a lot.
