Potential Hints At Battlefield's Future - BF2143

Back to Karkand was just recently released with wide praise, but what's next? Battlefield 3 is set to have 3x the DLC as Bad Company 2 (21 total) and in a press conference during a press conference, EA's Frank D. Gibeau stated that "the next 6 months is to have a very robust set of expansion packs." Recently users have been spotting potential hints towards more DLC.

New York City (default shipping labels with a shipping address of NYC have been spotted by user Potterike) is rumored to be the set of future Battlefield 3 content, but what about a sequel to BF1943?

Battlefield 3 gamer, didiMau has found the numbers "2143" printed on a crate on Wake Island.

BF2143 reference?

To the average person some numbers like the above don't mean much, but DICE has performed a similar move before when hinting at BF2142 by placing the numbers "2142" on a car license plate. BF2143 has been a lightly discussed topic by gamers on various forums, but Battlefield 3 came out and the discussion quieted, so maybe DICE is hinting at the next big installment for the franchise.

I've played BF 1943, bad company 2, and BF3. Now a future style BATTLEFIELD game on modern day video game systems would be an awesome amount of awesome.

Battlefield 2142 with the Frostbite 2 engine would be a perfect fit. Reason why is that even though the titans were awesome in BF2142, the Refractor 2 engine was never really designed for a huge moving object with both an inside and outside area. The same could be said for the ships in 1942. They worked but there was a lot of lag when trying to move around them while they were moving. Frostbite on the other hand is extremely scalable that the Titans would fit perfectly and also add in a lot more destruction to them. Just imagine the titan falling apart as you run to get out before it explodes.

I totally thought they'd do this. Not to grill them or anything, but they've found it's either more profitable or more efficient to lump a potential sequel BF game as DLC into another Bf game lately. I'm sure you all thought the same.

I think they believe releasing Vietnam or 2143 as a full game wouldn't sell much, so by releasing it as DLC, I dunno, more people will buy it or something.

But yes, there will definitely be a 2143 in BF3s future. Its' awesome, because I always wanted to play 2143. I hope they bring back Titan mode. That would be *manly angelic voice*[i]Awwesoooooome*[/i]!

This is just an easter egg, or some random stuff that Dice makes. I've found Acta non verba crates in Bad company 2.

I believe this game will not become true, and like HardcoreHobo said, it wouldn't sell much.

But would I wanna see Titans in Frostbite 2? HELL YEAH

YAY! One of my if not most favorite battlefield games! I posted months ago about a possible titan like mode (in modern setting with carriers) in the forums because i loved the game so much. Would be great to see what the game could look like in frostbite two. That being said this could just be an easter egg, BUT they also said there would be alot more DLC compared to Bad Company which had vietnam soo we'll see.

if it is true, i sincerely hope they don't make it one instalment of their DLC, i can only imagine that it would be half assed - they'd have to make an entire new game basically, and then just to release that as DLC? nah - they'd have to sell it for cheap, it would be much more reasonable to release it as a separate game, and charge an intermediate price... and i'd prefer a game where they actually put real effort in.

there's a difference between easter eggs and clues... and this aint no egg.

Wasn't really a fan of 2142...it just seemed kinda mehhhh...to me. I'd much rather have MOD TOOLS!!! Just give us them within a year or so...mmmmmk?

I Cannot say how much I want this expansion if it's true 2142 doesn't work for me nowaday's as I use a gamepad all the time. BF2143 would be a god send of EPIC proportions. MECHS in Frosbite 2 engine and TITAN MODE OMFG EPIC. Everytime I try to play 2142 online I get banned in a minute for no reason I dont understand how the dumb ass losers out there run these servers. Then kick new players for no apperent reason. Hopefully 2143 is real I hate the type of poeple who still play old games. Granted ten years ago I would be able to play no problem but now ?
I can't explain these douche server admins in it now. I can still play BF2 or 1942 etc... but NOT 2142 because of loser admins.

SO PLEASE GRANT ME THE WISH OF 2143 + I know it wont be free I DONT CARE.

every friend I tell about the possible Expansion, even casual gamers there eye's light up. So Dice DO IT.

we barely need new maps BF3 has enough work on 2143 PLEASE

1942 expansion would be awesome. I can see them making 2143 with consoles in mind and advertising the shit out of it. Console fanboys would lap that up like mulled wine at the wall, even if they have never heard of 2142

I've just been playing since BC1, but from what I hear 2142 was great, so 2143 would be awesome!

Also 1942 with frostbite 2 would be cool too, again not familiar with the maps of 1942 but maybe more destruction oriented maps would be nice (like Manila with buildings and such rather than just huts and the like)

As far as map DLCs for BF3, a NYC map would be awesome if they played it right. I know that it could be just a U.S. version of Grand Bazaar if they didn't put any effort in, but imagine a map from say West 57th to West 110th, with Broadway, water on either side, Central Park in the middle, would be like a combination of Sharqi/Karkand/Wake with boats, jeeps, IFVs and MBTs, helos, jets, everything.

I know most of you saw 2143 and went berserk, but click on the link that says "spotted" in the op, I found that poster on the side of a can or bag on wake, says 10001 which is Manhattan Island zip

I saw that too. I think they should make a 2143. They did remake BF1942 so I got hope in this.
